Take a Breath

So, this is my first blog post on here. Today I started going through my China Moleskine and came across when we were in LiJiang. It was cold and I could see my breath.
That brings me to today. There's something about being able to see your breath outside that's grounding. It connects you, moves you, and reminds you that you're a part of your surroundings. I feel more connected when I see my breath. I just think to myself, "I am a part of this Earth, I am here, no more, no less." In this moment of exhale, I realize I am nothing more that the vapors escaping from me. Created by God, we are a part of that grand scheme. Whether being in the mountains of China or just the wintry blend Kansas City has to offer, I'm reminded of my place in this world.
Further down in my China entry, I wrote "I am in a Buddhist temple in rural China, yet still I find You." Now that I think of it, I am in no different of a place. I'm surrounded by a society that also worships consumerism and sex, but tags on Christianity whenever deemed important. In fact, I have more of an obligation to my community here; that's why I went to China, to learn, come back, and teach. Have I failed? Or have we all in this aspect? As I breathe, I am united with everyone else in the fact that we're all human, put on this Earth for one reason or another, but we were all put here to be loved, and show that love to the world.

Take a breath of the Spirit, exhale peace.
Take a breath of the Spirit, exhale love.

       Keep breathing.
